Cottage Fall Decor

The leaves are turning more yellow, red, and orange each day and with that they days are getting shorter, and the temperatures are cooling. It's time to bring more fall elements into my home decor.
Layers of texture are a core element of my fall decorating. I like to use natural elements as well as pieces of vintage crochet work. I use these elements in each of the vignettes in my main living area. I start each arrangement with a base layer, then add floral elements, accent pieces, and a twinkle of light.
Tablescape
I absolutely adore vintage amber glass in my fall decor and dinner serving ware. Add some lights and it creates a warm and cozy glow. As the finishing touch for my tablescape I tuck in an assortment of Hummel figurines that I inherited from my Grandma Beth. The colors of these sweet figures fit right in and add a nostalgic touch. This overall arrangement is low to the table and makes it ideal for family dinners and will stay in place through Thanksgiving Day.
Mantle
Continuing with the McCoy Pottery pieces, I layer in the crocheted doily, branches of soft foliage, and mini-twinkle lights. A simple progression into the season.
Coffee Table
The coffee table is kept very simple. Just adding three turquoise glass pumpkins. Easy to put on a shelf with my Granddaughter is here toddling around the furniture.

Entry Chest
This is the welcome point into my home. So, the warm layering of a table runner, foliage, candles, a simple white ceramic pumpkin, and mini-twinkle lights is just the right touch.
Island Arrangement
A simple statement in the center of the open floor plan. Fresh flowers accent another grouping of the layers and a white ceramic pumpkin.

This is fall decor in my modern cottage home. Warm, soft, nostalgic, and cozy.
Now, I hope that you may go rummage through a closet, drawer or a storage tote and find the little treasures you've inherited or collected through the years. Find ways of tucking these treasures into your seasonal decor. While you're at it, take a moment to think about the person who crocheted that doily, collected those Hummels, or used that vintage candy dish in their home.
