Like a Cider Mill Treat

It’s time for apple harvest in the Kansas City area which means a trip to an orchard or picking up a jug of fresh cider at the supermarket. Kids in the area grow up going on field trips to the Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, Missouri or to the Louisburg Cider Mill in Louisburg, Kansas. So many fun family memories of climbing through pumpkins, watching how apple cider is made, and then noshing on a bag of fresh apple cider donuts.
As a throwback to the good times taking kids to the cider mill, I selected a recipe for Apple Cider Donut Bread.

Along with fresh apple cider, homemade apple pie spice is key to this recipe. A delicious spice blend that is good for pie, sweet bread, cooked apples, or even with a slow cooked pork loin.
The bread is a simple mix of wet and dry ingredients that come together quickly.
The house fills with a delightful apple spice aroma while the bread is baking. Taking your time for the bread to cool and gently add the sugar and spice topping is well worth the effort.
As an afternoon snack, I enjoyed a slice of this moist bread with the crunchy sweet topping that truly is reminiscent of an apple cider donut. A mug of Lady Grey tea was the perfect accompaniment.
