Banana Nut Bread

At some point this week, the thought of homemade banana nut bread popped into my mind. I haven’t made banana bread in several years. The fruity sweet bread with dense walnuts sounds delightful!
I’ve fallen into the habit of grabbing a packaged breakfast bar to eat most mornings. These are convenient and somewhat tasty, but not the most enjoyable. Perhaps if I get back into the groove of baking, I can have a more pleasing breakfast experience. I think a slice of banana nut bread topped with creamy butter could be a good start to the day.
So, here goes. I’m kicking off my fall baking with this classic. My go-to banana nut bread recipe is the good old Betty Crocker cookbook. I remember baking banana bread as a young girl and using my mom’s 1960’s vintage Betty Crocker cookbook. My Betty Crocker cookbook is the 1989 edition that I received as a Christmas gift when I was a newlywed.
Baking is so pleasureful on a quiet afternoon. No pressure, just leisure.
Pulling a beautiful loaf of goodness out of the oven, the house filled with genuine aroma, and the anticipation of the first taste is delightful. A simple pleasure.
It’s a good time for quick bread and coffee cakes. I hope you may be inspired to start a fall baking routine too.
